Mrs. Elnettia Royal Reed, age 82, of Douglas, Georgia, passed away Tuesday morning, February 18, 2025 at Vista Park Health & Rehabilitation surrounded by her family.
Mrs. Reed was born April 8, 1942 in Douglas, Georgia to the late Daniel Bernice Royal and the late Ella Carter Royal. She made a career as a seamstress, working for a number of years for Fleetwood Manufacturing where she started up and became head of the Drapery Department. She was a member of West Ward Church of God for many years where she was very active in Ladies Ministries. She also impacted the lives of multiple generations as a longstanding Sunday school teacher. Her teaching touched the lives of all those she encountered, from small children at church to those in their golden years at Shady Acres.
Along with her parents, Mrs. Reed was preceded in death by her loving husband, R. C. Reed, and 10 siblings: Sadie Royal Worth, Essie Royal Thomas, D. B. Royal, James Royal, Lafayette Royal, Vernan Royal, Willie Royal, Vonell Royal Tallmage, Earlie Royal, and Pearlie Royal.
Mrs. Reed is survived by her daughter, Theresa Reed Mazzer (Lawrence) of Douglas, Georgia; 4 Grandchildren: Amanda Cumbass of Douglas, Georgia, Christian Crumbley (Chad) of Newnan, Georgia, Rachel Lowe (Adam) of Cleveland, Tennessee, Sandi Young of Douglas, Georgia; 10 Great Grandchildren: Kelsey Metts (Tyler), Kanler Cumbass, Zane Cumbass, Blaine Lowe, Avri Lowe, Maddox Lowe, Quinn Lowe, Macy Crumbley, Mazzer Young, Ryker Josey; Bonus Great Grandchildren: Gatlin Smith, Kawanzi Baker; 2 Siblings: Janet Wittkamp of Savannah, Georgia, Eloise Gattis of Conyers, Georgia; along with numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Mrs. Reed’s funeral was held on Friday morning, February 21, 2025 at 11:00 AM at West Ward Church of God, with Bishop Britt Peavy officiating. Musical selections included “What a Day That Will Be”, “Celebrate Me Home”, and “I’ve Never Been This Homesick Before” all rendered by Greg Soles. Interment followed in the Douglas City Cemetery.
Active pallbearers included: Shane Cumbass, Chad Crumbley, Adam Lowe, Derek Young, Kanler Cumbass, Zane Cumbass, Blaine Lowe, and Maddox Lowe.
