Mrs. Sarah Oliver Varnadoe Quinn of Hazlehurst, Georgia, passed away on April 15, 2025, at the age of 100.  She was born in Macon, Georgia and spent her childhood and young adult life in Hazlehurst, Georgia.

Mrs. Quinn started her nursing career in Hazlehurst, Georgia in the 1950’s.  After Jeff Davis Hospital was built in 1963 Mrs. Quinn started working there as a registered nurse and soon became the Director of Nursing.  After leaving the hospital she was Director of Nursing at many medical and care facilities.  Her love and care for the people she worked with and for her patients was something she will always be remembered for.

Mrs. Quinn loved to travel and visited many historic sites in several states.  She was an accomplished artist and received many prestigious awards for her artwork.  Always a country girl at heart, Mrs. Quinn loved gardening, going fishing, working in her flower gardens, enjoying life with family and friends and spending time with her cats. Some of her hobbies included making jewelry, ceramics, and crocheting. Mrs. Quinn was a dedicated Christian who read her bible daily while sharing her love for our Lord with others.

Mrs. Quinn is preceded in death by her mother, Belle McEachin Varnadoe, her father Joseph Oliver Varnadoe, and her eldest daughter Rose Marie Quinn McEachin.

Mrs. Quinn is survived by her two sons: Randy Riddle and wife, Kerri, of Saco, Maine, Arthur Quinn and wife, Tammy, of Hazlehurst, Georgia: and daughter, Susie Quinn of Hazlehurst, Georgia; five grandchildren: Nicholas Riddle and wife, Janie, of Nova Scotia, Canada, Benjamin Riddle of Albemarle, North Caroline, Brian McEachin of Savannah, Georgia, Daniel Quinn and wife, Rachael, of Statesboro, Georgia, Amanda Rose Quinn of Hazlehurst, Georgia; five great-grandchildren: Gracie McEachin, Kaci Orvin, Kameron Orvin, Talulah Riddle and Grant Quinn; along with a number of extended family members.

A graveside service will be held April 26, 2025, at Satilla Freewill Baptist Church in Hazlehurst, Georgia at 3:30 pm.

Condolences, kind words and fond memories may be left for Mrs. Quinn’s family at www.ricketsonfuneralhome.com.

Mrs. Quinn’s arrangements have been entrusted to the kind and compassionate staff of Ricketson Funeral Home, Inc.
