“’Tis Grace that brought me safe thus far, and Grace will lead me home.”

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved spouse and father, Donald “Toby” Harris, age 64, of Douglas, Georgia.

Toby was born September 13, 1960 in Swainsboro, Georgia, to the late Ivy Wiley “Don” Harris and the late Joyce Iona Hayes Harris.  He was a loving father and grandfather, a devoted husband, a pillar of strength, and a source of endless love. He was a man of integrity and hard work, known for his dedication to his family.  He will be forever remembered for his warm smile and love for laughter.

Toby is survived by his family, including his wife of 44 years, Brenda Marsh Harris; his children: Mandy Harris Reedy (Daniel), Brandi Harris, Laci Harris Chaney (Trent); and his grandchildren: Brianna Woods, Kameron Spivey, Levi Chaney, and Eli Chaney.  Toby is also survived by many, special loved ones including Joy Attebery (Kenny), Heather Minnich (Douglas), and Allie Slater.

A celebration of Toby’s life was held on Monday morning, June 16, 2025, at 11:00 AM in the Ricketson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tom Rice officiating.  Bagpiper, Dr. Grant Lilford, opened and closed the service playing “Amazing Grace”.  A musical selection of “Take Me Down” from the recorded music of Gary Clark, Jr. was also played.  Eulogies were offered by Joy Attebery, Regan Slater, Brooks Waldron, Donald “Sport” Hooks, Brianna Woods and Rick Warford.  Memorialization followed by cremation.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been set up at FNB South in Douglas, Georgia.

Condolences, kind words, and fond memories may be shared with Toby’s family at www.ricketsonfuneralhome.com.

Toby’s arrangements were entrusted to the kind and compassionate staff of Ricketson Funeral Home, Inc. of Douglas, Georgia.
