Virginia Carolyn Day Thompson, age 83, of Ambrose, Georgia, passed away peacefully as her home on July 15, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born on December 23, 1941 in Douglas, Georgia, Carolyn was the cherished daughter of the late Oveida Purvis Day and Earnest Day. She was also preceded in death by her beloved brother, Sherrill Day.

Carolyn lived a life rooted in faith, kindness, and devotion to her family. She was a nurturing mother, proud grandmother, and loyal friend. Her warm smile, gentle spirit, and unwavering love touched the lives of all who knew her.

Carolyn had a deep love for her church, Bethany Holiness Baptist Church, where she faithfully served for many years as pianist, church secretary, and cemetery representative. Her dedication to her church family and her gift of music were expressions of her enduring faith, and she continued her service until recently.

She was saved by grace in February 1979 and received the baptism of the Holy Spirit in February 1983. She continued to serve and share the word of her Lord until her death.

She is lovingly remembered by her children: David (Debra) Ricketson, Steve (Becky) Thompson, and Beth (Kevin) Wright. Carolyn was the proud grandmother to Ashley (Jessica) Ricketson, Jonathan Wright, and Jordan Wright, and she treasured the time she spent with them.

Carolyn also leaves behind her special friend, Bobby Mancil, whose companionship brought her much joy and comfort for several years.

She will be deeply missed, but her legacy of love, faith, and compassion will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and friends.

A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, July 19th, 2025, at Bethany Holiness Baptist Church at 11:00 AM, with Rev. Tommy Green and Rev. Edsel Young officiating. She will lie in state one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Bethany Holiness Baptist Church Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will include: Scott Day, Mark Day, Morris Norton, Wade Purvis, Jimmy Day, and Hugh Paulk.

The family would like to express heartfelt thanks at all who have supported them during this time.

Sims Funeral Home in Douglas, GA is in charge of arrangements.
