Mrs. Kathy Batten Stone, age 64, a lifelong resident of Douglas, Georgia, passed away Monday afternoon, June 1, 2026, at Coffee Regional Medical Center, following a sudden illness.
Kathy was born December 22, 1961, in Douglas, Georgia, to the late Herbert Batten and the late Doris Ricketson Batten. She was a graduate of Coffee County High School, and she continued her education obtaining an associate’s degree in business. She married the love of her life, Stanley Nelson Stone, and together they raised two beautiful daughters, Reagan and Whitney. Kathy loved the Lord and was an active member of Douglas First Baptist Church where she loved to serve and was very community oriented. She eagerly put others before herself. She loved all animals, traveling, watching University of Georgia Football and spending time with her family. She also found great joy in music and attending concerts.
Kathy leaves behind twin daughters: Reagan S. Groover and husband, Andrew, of Savannah, Georgia, and Whitney S. Crumpton and husband, Jarred, of Hazlehurst, Georgia; one grandson, Stone Groover of Savannah, Georgia, and another on the way; one sister, Terry B. Cook of Douglas, Georgia; one brother, Greg Batten of Douglas, Georgia; three aunts: Myrtle Mathews of Douglas, Georgia, Mary R. Thacker of Douglas, Georgia, and Frankie R. Smith, Jamestown, North Carolina; four nephews: Josh Cook, Elias Batten, Mac Batten, and Mason Batten; along with a host of extended family members and friends,
Kathy’s family will receive friends on Thursday, June 4, 2026, from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM, in the Ricketson Funeral Home Chapel. Her funeral will be held on Friday, June 5, 2026, at 2:00 PM at the Douglas First Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Grantham Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will include Jarred Crumpton, Andrew Groover, Stone Groover, Josh Cook, Elias Batten, Mac Batten, and Mason Batten.
Honorary pallbearers will include Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, Dewayne Gillis’ Sunday School Class, Pam and Clint Martin, and Margaret and Chris Lewis.
In lieu of flowers Kathy’s family suggests donations be made to Beta Sigma Phi Passionately Pink of Coffee County in care of Hennessy Insurance Agency, 711 North Madison Avenue, Douglas, Georgia 31533.
