On Saturday, June 27, 2026, deputies with the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office assisted multiple law enforcement agencies in the apprehension of suspects connected to a fatal shooting that took place in Crisp County.
At approximately 9:24 p.m., deputies were alerted to be on the lookout for a suspect vehicle believed to be traveling into Coffee County. During the search, deputies located a silver Chevrolet Malibu connected to the investigation and attempted a traffic stop.
The driver refused to stop, leading deputies on a high-speed pursuit exceeding 100 miles per hour through Coffee and Jeff Davis counties. During the pursuit, the suspect drove recklessly, nearly causing multiple collisions and placing motorists at serious risk.
Deputies successfully brought the pursuit to a safe end near Broxton Highway and Kirkland Still Road using a Precision Immobilization Technique (PIT) maneuver.
The driver, Trenton Lane, and passenger, William Troy, were taken into custody without further incident.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is leading the ongoing investigation. Specific charges relating to the suspects have not been released.
