CCA pitcher Shanley Meeks threw a three-inning, 40-pitch perfect game Tuesday in the Lady Patriots’ 15-0 win over the Tiftarea Academy Lady Panthers in CCA’s home opener. Not only was it the first home game of the year – it was also the first game in the history of CCA’s program to be played under the lights.
The Lady Patriots capitalized on a festive mood at Patriot Field and jumped out to an early 3-0 lead. They added two in the second and then broke the game open in the third for a 10-spot to end the contest via run rule. CCA tallied 12 total hits on the day.
Emma Gourley, Allie Veal, Peighton Harper, Arabelle Roberts, and Meeks all had two hits each. Klair Mercer, Veal, and Harper drove in two. Gourley scored three while Brilynn Waldron, Veal, and Roberts scored two each. Two of Gourley’s hits were doubles. Mattie Lewis added a double of her own.
Meeks was lights out in three innings of work – zeroes across the stat sheet except for the strikeout column, where she recorded eight (out of 15 total outs).
The Lady Patriots are 5-1 on the season and have three games this weekend, all of which are in Douglas. At 5 p.m., they face Brookwood then square off against Southwest Georgia Academy at 7 p.m. Both of those games will be played on the CCA campus. Saturday, CCA and Lanier County play at 3:30 at the Premier complex near Jardine Stadium.
In another first, the Patriot athletic program will use both new sets of lights at the same time. While the Lady Patriots will be playing softball, the Patriot football team will face Baker County (7:30 p.m.) in the 2026 season opener.
