On October 14, 2026, officers from the Douglas Police Department investigated an alleged hit-and-run and, as a result, arrested three individuals on various charges and active warrants, including the victim of the accident.
A report from the police department states that around 8:30 p.m. on October 14, an officer was dispatched to a hit-and-run on Pine Street and Mark Hannah/Kimbrough Street. The initial call was that a motorist had hit someone on an electric bicycle and left the scene.
The officer spoke with the victim, identified as Thomas Dewayne Poole, 62, of Douglas. Poole was riding an electric bike when he was hit by a white Toyota Camry driven by Keliseya Mona Landers, 20, of Broxton. A witness said that the Camry was passing Poole when it struck him then left the scene, the report says. Poole was taken to CRMC for treatment.
Officers found the Camry at Amberwood Apartments and spoke with two individuals who were in the vehicle at the time of the incident. After getting statements, the officer ran their information and found that one of the occupants, Ceterra Thorpe, 20, of Douglas, had an active warrant.
Officers also learned that Poole had an active warrant for his arrest.
As a result of the incident and the investigation, officers arrested Landers, Poole, and Thorpe. Poole’s warrant was for smash and grab burglary while Thorpe’s warrant was related to an alleged probation violation. Landers was charged with improper passing and hit-and-run/leaving the scene of an accident.
Landers and Thorpe were released. Poole remains in the Coffee County Jail.
