E. L. “Buddy” Worth, age 78, of Douglas, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 29, 2026. He was born on April 21, 1948, in Broxton, GA.
He is survived by one son, Adam (Leigh) Cato of Douglas, GA; two grandchildren: Alexis (Becca) Cheves-Cato of Union Point, Georgia, and Logan (Taylor) Hartley of Sandersville, Georgia; two great-grandchildren: Addison Hartley and Rory Cheves-Cato; five sisters: Jean Stroud of Douglas, Georgia, Peggy Giddens (Johnny) of Douglas, Georgia, Shirley Powell of Douglas, Georgia, Diane Burkhalter of Morristown, Tennessee, and Tammy Ragan (Carl) of Douglas, Georgia; one brother: David Worth (Kathy) of West Green, Georgia; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Worth was a faithful member of the Wayfare Church.
Mr. Worth is preceded in death by his loving wife of over 40 years, Lynn Yarbrough Worth; parents, Ilene Hand Worth, Alton “Coot” Worth, and Leantine Worth.
Grandparents, Enoch and Josephine Worth, and Luther and Sadie Hand; and one sister, Reba Dale.
Active pallbearers: Ken Worth, Jacob Maddox, Cody Maddox, Marshall Knight, Taylor Heartly, and Carl Ragan, Jr.
Honorary pallbearers: Robert Browning, Dennis O’Neal, Carroll Dale, and the members of the Wayfare Church family.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 1, 2026, at Douglas Christian Fellowship Church of God in Douglas, Georgia, from 1 PM-2 PM.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, November 1, 2026, at the Douglas Christian Fellowship Church of God in Douglas, Georgia, at 2 PM, with Rev. Larry and Beth King and Rev. David Bowen officiating. The interment will follow the service at the Broxton City Cemetery.
