William “Billy O” Smith passed away suddenly on Wednesday, December 27, 2023.

He was the son of Owen Smith and Kate Hulsey Smith. He was employed with the Coffee County School system as a bus driver for 3 years, where he had the pleasure of meeting his future wife, Mary Jo Lewis. After their marriage he worked several jobs and then, by chance met Dick Weir, who had hired him to be a district manager for Noba Inc. He worked for Noba Inc. through many name changes over a 35-year time period. He retired February 1, 2008, from Genex. He was loved by many and loved many children as he traveled over the state doing his work.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mary Jo Lewis Smith, Two Daughters: Donna Kate (Charles) Mercer, Sr., Sandy Michelle Smith, One Brother: Harry A. (Frances Paulk) Smith, One Grandson: Charles Evans Mercer, Jr.; Three Great Grandsons: Noah Mercer and special friend Montana Dixon, Beau Mercer and Wyatt Mercer. He is preceded in death by his parents Owen and Kate Hulsey Smith, a sister Margaret Virginia Smith Bledsoe.
Several nieces, nephews, and special friends also survive.

The family will receive friends on Friday, December 29, 2023, 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Rocky Pond Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 30, 2023, 11:00 AM at Rocky Pond Baptist Church, with Rev. Larry Stone Officiating, and Rev. Lonnie Spikes at graveside. The eulogy will be given by Johnny Boonette.

Interment will follow at the Rocky Pond Baptist Church Cemetery.
