Miss Brenda Gayle Johns, age 61, of West Green passed away late Thursday evening, March 12, 2015, at the Shady Acres Health & Rehabilitation Center, following an extended illness. She was born October 11, 1953 to the late Fred Johns and Janette Moore Johns.

Miss Johns, a native of Jacksonville, Florida, had been living in the West Green area for some time. She retired as a Clerk from the Jacksonville / Duval County Sheriff’s Department. She attended the West Ward Street Church of God.

Survivors include: Her Mother: Janette Moore Johns of West Green, Ga.; 1 Brother: James Hoyt Johns of Fernandina Beach, Florida; 1 Sister: Sibyl Spivey of Detroit, Michigan; 2 Nephews: Stephen Johns of Fernandina Beach, Fla., and Michael Johns of St. Petersburg, Fla.; 2 Nieces: Kristen Spivey of Kennesaw, Ga., and Karen Meyers of Katy, Texas.

Funeral Services were held Sunday, March 15, 2015, at 2:00 P. M., at the West Ward Street Church of God, with Rev. Britt Peavy officiating. The Interment followed in the Burkett Cemetery, near West Green. Active Pallbearers were: Kirby Holton, Bobby Jenkins, Robert Byrd, Kyle Lott, Corey Moore, Cade Moore, Ricky Lott, and Kalin Moore. Special Musical Selections, “Going Home”, “Getting Ready Today, Moving Out Tomorrow”, and “Good Bye World, Good Bye”, were all presented by CD Music. “Pre-Lude” and “Post-Lude” soft hymns were rendered by the Pianist, Terry Giddens.

Ricketson Funeral Home was in charge of the Arrangements.
