Sheriff’s authorities reported Friday afternoon that investigators were recently able to recover several remaining missing items from a December burglary in which crooks allegedly stole nearly $100 thousand in jewelry.
In December 2014 and January 2015, sheriff’s investigators made four arrests in connection with a burglary that took place at 652 West Green Road in which over $97 thousand worth of jewelry was stolen. During the initial investigation, detectives were able to recover a vast majority of the items, with the exception of a ring valued at $50 thousand, a gold necklace valued at $2,000, and a diamond bracelet valued at $4,500.
Earlier this month, detectives received information that the remaining pieces of jewelry were possibly located at a pawn shop in another county. A detective from the sheriff’s office traveled to a pawn shop in Berrien County where he was able to locate and recover the remaining pieces.
The victim in the case was notified by the detective and responded to the location, where she was able to give a detailed description of the jewelry to authorities and the business owner. All the property that was recovered was returned to the owner, and three of the four individuals arrested in the case remain incarcerated at the Coffee County Jail.
In a press release issued by the office, Coffee County Sheriff Doyle Wooten and the investigative division of the sheriff’s office thanked everyone who provided information pertaining to the case.
“Because of concerned citizens like you, detectives were able bring the perpetrators that committed this crime to justice and to recover all the property,” the release stated.
