Douglas City Commissioner Olivia Pearson was elected to the Board of Directors for the Georgia Municipal Association (GMA) during the association’s annual meeting in Savannah June 28.

Pearson will serve as First Vice President of GMA’s 11th District. The district includes cities in the following counties: Ben Hill, Coffee, Bacon, Pierce, Brantley, Charlton, Clinch, Echols, Lowndes, Brooks, Lanier, Cook, Berrien, Atkinson, Irwin, Tift and Turner.

“We are pleased to have Commissioner Pearson taking on this leadership position,” said GMA Executive Director Lamar Norton. “She’s well respected by her colleagues, and I’m sure she’ll provide great leadership to the cities in her district.”

Based in Atlanta, GMA is a voluntary, non-profit organization that provides legislative advocacy, educational, employee benefit and technical assistance services to its 520 member cities.
