An allegedly drunken 30-year-old found himself in jail after a deputy attempted to give him a ride home but he was unable to remember where he lived.
According to an incident report from the sheriff’s office, on February 1, 2026, at around 11 p.m., an officer responded to the intersection of Spring Oak Street and Highway 221 North regarding a man in a green jacket who was in the highway. One caller stated that the man, identified as Cesar Julian Lucas Perez, 30, of Douglas, had walked in front of their vehicle them attempted to chase them as they drove away.
Another officer responded and the two deputies found Perez and recognized him from a previous encounter. About a month and a half earlier, one of the officers on the scene had given Perez a ride to his home at 26 Lacey Avenue. Perez, who was visibly intoxicated, told the officers that he did not wish to harm himself, the report says. He told the officers that he didn’t live at the Lacey Avenue address anymore. After trying to recall several different addresses, he told the officers that he lived at 180 Villa Street.
One of the officers took Perez to the Villa Street address. However, when they arrived, Perez said that wasn’t his address. The report says that Perez couldn’t remember where he lived or how to get there. The officer placed Perez under arrest for pedestrian under the influence and transported him to the Coffee County Jail. He was later released.
