Joseph James Miller, 42, of Douglas, was recently arrested after he admitted to being in possession of an illegal substance he identified as molly. However, detectives with the Coffee County Drug Unit tested the drugs, which showed a positive result for cocaine. An incident report states that on January 21, detectives with the unit were conducting “proactive narcotics patrol” in the area of Highway 221 North when they noticed a Nissan Sentra fail to maintain its lane while traveling south on the highway.A detective ran the Sentra’s tag number through the Georgia Crime Information Center, with the vehicle’s…

Monday night, deputies with the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office assisted the U.S. Marshals in apprehending a 45-year-old male who was wanted on a federal warrant. The offender, Reynaldo Deleon Jr., was wanted in another state on the warrant but had been living in Douglas. According to local law enforcement, Deleon was apprehended on Monday night at a residence on Dewey Avenue after deputies were informed that he was wanted out of Texas on an active federal probation warrant. Deleon was also arrested in Douglas on December 28 by officers with the Douglas Police Department on a…

Last week, the Grand Jury heard dozens of cases. The jury handed down indictments against more than 30 individuals, many of who made headlines at the end of 2022. One of the individuals whose charges were indicted last week, Bobby Allen Ducker, was the subject of one of DouglasNow’s most memorable stories last fall. Ducker was arrested on November 16 after deputies were dispatched to a residence on Highway 32 after a woman called 911 to report an unknown male in the home making threats.
