Local authorities recently arrested one man after discovering a small pot growing operation near Broxton. Acting on an anonymous tip, drug agents searched a wooded area off old Relee Rd. in Broxton for a potential marijuana grow operation. The agents located six marijuana plants being grown in commercial potting soil, along with containers. Subsequent to the discovery and following the investigation, 25-year-old Kaleb Owens of Broxton was arrested at his place of employment and charged with manufacturing marijuana. An 18-year-old faces multiple drug and other criminal charges after authorities followed a complaint of drug activity around two motels on Douglas’ north side. Coffee County sheriff’s officials reported that Douglas police officers were dispatched to the area of North Peterson Ave. and Walker St. on July 10 in reference to a man engaged in the sale of drugs. Officers arrived and met with an individual meeting the description given in an alley between the Douglas Inn and Fountain Inn. According to officials, the yellow Jeep CJ7 was taken some time between Wednesday and Thursday of this week from 306 Westside Dr. in Douglas. A 32-year-old Ocilla man is behind bars this morning following a shooting incident that left another man dead. Ocilla Police responded to the 900 block of North Carver St. around 9 p.m., where they discovered the victim, 30-year-old Anthony Walker, dead from multiple gunshot wounds. The suspect, identified as Patrick Thrower, initially left the scene, but later turned himself in to authorities. He is charged with murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Officials state the incident remains under investigation.

Coffee County authorities are searching for two vehicles recently reported stolen and are hoping the public can help. The first vehicle was reported stolen from Midway Trucking and is described as a white, 2002 Chevrolet 4×4 truck (pictured below). The golf cart pictured above was taken from the Baymeadows area.
