Douglas police released video footage Wednesday of man wanted in reference to a financial transaction card fraud incident. The police department is attempting to identify the individual shown in the video, and they are asking for the community’s help. Anyone with information that could assist in identifying this person is asked to contact the Douglas Police Dept. at (912) 384-2222 or the Tips Line at (912) 260-3600. Coffee County Sheriff’s Office officials released the following information Tuesday morning regarding the recent arrests of two local men suspected of dealing in methamphetamine. The Douglas-Coffee Drug Unit Detectives and K-9 deputies conducted a traffic stop on Jan. 26 on a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado truck for failure to maintain lane on Leon St. at Smith St. in Douglas. The driver, identified as Brandon Rowland, gave consent to a search of the vehicle and, under the hood of the vehicle, officers discovered a black zip-up bag. One person was hospitalized early Monday evening following a shooting that occurred in the Oak Park community of Coffee County. Sheriff’s deputies responded to an area off Moss St. around 5:30 p.m. The victim, who has not been named, was transported to Coffee Regional Medical Center. The extent of the victim’s injuries is not known at this time. Anyone with information pertaining to the case is asked to contact the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office at (912) 384-4227. A Coffee County man was jailed over the weekend following one of the largest marijuana confiscations in recent Coffee County history. Sheriff’s officials stated at around 3 a.m., Feb. 12, the Douglas-Coffee Drug Unit (DCDU) and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Southeastern Regional Drug Enforcement Office conducted an operation after several weeks of planning and investigation. Officials with the Alma Police Dept. reported today that two females have been charged in connection to case reported earlier this week in which law enforcement seized over six pounds of methamphetamine. On Monday, Feb. 8, the Alma P.D., along with the Bacon County Sheriff’s Office and a Ware State Prison K-9 team, executed a search warrant at 412 W. 15th St. in Alma following a brief investigation. Authorities with the Alma Police Dept. reported Monday their office, with the assistance of the Bacon County Sheriff’s Office and a Ware State Prison K-9 team, executed a search warrant at 412 W. 15th St. in Alma following a brief investigation. Officers seized over six pounds of crystal methamphetamine, 1 ¼ pounds of marijuana, a Glock 9mm handgun, and $15,090 cash. Officials stated four suspects were arrested as a result of the investigation, but the names of the individulas would not be provided until a later date.

Telfair County Sheriff Chris Steverson reported Tuesday that Telafair authorities recently arrested Jacksonville Mayor John Dopson on charges of driving under the influence of drugs and impersonating a law enforcement officer. A Nicholls man was jailed recently after officers discovered a large amount of packaged marijuana during a routine traffic stop. Sheriff’s officials reported that, on January 22, detectives with the Douglas – Coffee Drug Unit and K9 deputies conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on North Gaskin Ave. and Jackson St. after the driver was observed failing to maintain lane.
