A Douglas man was jailed Thursday following an incident earlier this week in which he allegedly fired multiple gunshots at residence following an argument over a drug debt. A pharmacy technician with the Douglas Wal-Mart store has been jailed after allegedly switching pain medications of customers with acetaminophen. Officials with the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office reported today that local drug agents entered into a joint investigation with the Georgia Bureau of Narcotics on Aug. 4. The two agencies were reacting to a complaint from the Wal-Mart pharmacy and Wal-Mart loss prevention associates regarding the improper handling and/or theft of controlled substances. Coffee County sheriff’s investigators are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a thief. Authorities report that in the early morning hours last Tuesday, Aug. 16, a male subject entered an automobile at a residence on Cutter Rd. and took a number of undisclosed items. The male culprit attempted to break into another vehicle on the property, but was unsuccessful. Alma police reported Wednesday the arrest of two people wanted in connection to passing thousands of dollars in forged checks in the area. The arrests came following a 10-day search for the suspects. Amy and Franklin Gregg Thornton were wanted after APD discovered the couple had forged 17 checks at Parker’s Food Mart and three checks at Jay’s IGA; cash received from the fraudulent checks exceeded $7,000. The wife of a former Coffee County sheriff’s deputy is behind bars after authorities say she and another individual confessed to a conspiracy to murder her husband. 49-year-old Cindy Youngblood and 24-year-old Reggie Lockhart are currently in the Coffee County Jail without bond after authorities determined the two conspired to kill 51-year-old Anthony Youngblood. Royheem Deeds, wanted in connection to the shooting death of Eastman Police Officer Tim Smith, was arrested along with two others early Monday morning in Florida. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation reported Deeds was arrested on a traffic stop conducted by the Nassau County Sheriff’s Office around 1:30 a.m. on U.S. 1 in Hilliard, Florida. Also in the vehicle were Deeds’ sister, 22-year-old Franshawn Deeds of Lumber City, GA, and 32-year-old Jamil Mitchell, also of Lumber City. An Eastman police officer was killed Saturday night while responding to a call of a suspicious person. GBI officials state preliminary information indicates that at approximately 9:30 p.m., Dodge County 911 received a call for a suspicious person near the intersection of Smith and Main Streets in Eastman.
