The results of last Tuesday’s municipal elections in Coffee County will stand – unless candidates or citizens file legal challenges to individual voters. Monday morning, Coffee County election officials conducted a hand audit of the results from last week’s election. The numbers the audit revealed match the election night results. Richard Justin Moore, 33, of Douglas, was arrested on November 2, 2025, after a Douglas police officer spotted him standing in a yard on South Chester Avenue and recognized him as having active warrants through the police department. According to a police department incident report, the officer was patrolling in the area when he saw Moore in the yard. He spoke to Moore and went to arrest him. A Douglas man who was not allowed on the property of a local business was arrested after he took his girlfriend to work there on the afternoon of October 31, 2025. According to an incident report from the Douglas Police Department, Rogelio Lopez, 40, of Douglas, had been trespassed from a restaurant. The report says that Lopez was a former employee of the business. Around 5 p.m. on October 31, he took his girlfriend to work there and left. When officers arrived at the business, they saw video footage showing Lopez drop someone off in the parking lot and leave.…
A 29-year-old Douglas man was arrested in Ambrose after he allegedly knocked on doors screaming for help. Witnesses stated that the man, identified as Cube Contario Evans, 29, of Douglas, knocking on doors of residents on Dennis Harper Road around 4 p.m. on November 2, 2025. Witnesses reported that he would knock on doors and scream, “Help me, they’re coming after me!” Authorities responded to the scene and attempted to detain Evans. An inmate at Coffee Correctional Facility in Nicholls was released from prison on November 2, 2025, and immediately arrested by deputies on charges out of Alabama. According to a report from the sheriff’s office, at 4:17 p.m. on November 2, Arsean Ross, 22, of Columbus, was taken into custody and transported to the Coffee County Jail. He was wanted out of Phenix City, Alabama (Russell County), on several charges, including failure to appear on April 17, 2025. On October 25, 2025, at approximately 12:31 a.m., deputies responded to 1001 Ramblewood Road in reference to a vehicle found in a pond. Upon arrival, deputies located the vehicle but found no driver on scene. The vehicle, which had no license plate, insurance, or current Georgia registration, was later identified through documents found inside as belonging to Jose Acosta Sosa. Deputies were unable to locate Sosa that night. The following day, Sosa’s wife contacted the sheriff’s office to report the vehicle missing. Coffee sophomore quarterback Tommy Stanley threw second-half touchdown passes to Trey Smith and Jasiah McRae while kicker Chris Hernandez made a field goal in the second quarter in the Coffee Trojans’ 41-17 loss to the Thomas County Central Yellow Jackets in Friday night’s regular season finale at Jardine Stadium. On October 30, 2025, deputies with the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Interdiction Unit conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for an alleged traffic violation at the intersection of Maple Street and First Avenue in Douglas. Officers identified the driver as Jesse Music, 42, of Douglas. During the course of the stop, deputies observed behavior indicative of criminal activity.
