Every Trojan in the lineup had a hit in Coffee’s 14-8 win over the 7A Colquitt County Packers Thursday in Moultrie. The win was the Trojans’ second over the Packers this season and improved the Trojans to 11-1. An officer investigating a suspicious vehicle near Ambrose arrested two individuals on a variety of charges, including illegal drug charges and DUI for the driver. According to a sheriff’s office report, around 1 a.m. on March 2, 2024, a deputy noticed a car at 4227 Vickers Crossing that appeared suspicious. Members of the community had expressed interest in having a greater law enforcement presence in the area due to suspected drug activity taking place. The Coffee Trojans exacted a little revenge on the Brantley County Herons Wednesday afternoon at Charles Wilson Field in Douglas. The Trojans defeated the Herons 7-3, avenging their only loss of the season, which Brantley dished out last week on the road. The two teams matched each other for the first two innings, with both scoring a run in each frame. After a close game against Toombs on Friday night, the Coffee Trojans decided not to leave their next game to chance. Monday, they jumped out early and never let up against the Bacon County Red Raiders in Alma. The Trojans won 17-0 in four innings to improve to 9-1. State School Superintendent Richard Woods has named 276 Advanced Placement (AP) Honor Schools from 99 school districts for 2024. The Coffee Trojans defeated the Vidalia Indians 8-6 in Vidalia Thursday night. The win was the 100th of Trojan head coach Sy Jones’s career at Coffee High. The Trojans scored three runs in the third and five in the sixth to take an 8-0 lead. As it turned out, they would need every one of those runs to hang on for the win. Thursday afternoon, agents from the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force and officers from the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office arrested Donsheldon Lowe, 29, of College Park, in Douglas. Lowe has an extensive and violent criminal record. He was considered dangerous and the agents and officers involved in the takedown treated the operation as such. Law enforcement swarmed the parking lot on the west side of the Harvey’s complex on West Ward Street around 3:30 p.m. Thursday and swiftly took Lowe into custody. Citizens Christian Academy has hired Jed Marsh, former head coach of the Trinity Christian School Crusaders in Dublin, as the Patriots’ new head football coach. For the last three years, Coach Marsh has served Trinity as its head coach. The Crusaders have made the state playoffs each of the last two years. Coach Marsh is a graduate of Maranatha Baptist University in Watertown, WI, where he played football and baseball. He and his wife, Samantha, have a one-year-old daughter, Adalynn. Guillermo De La Cruz Morales is responsible for the February 16, 2023, disappearance of Maria Sophia Diaz, according to a press release posted by the Douglas Police Department on its Facebook page Friday night. Diaz remains missing. With the assistance of several other agencies, evidence, and numerous witness statements, investigators were able to put together a partial timeline of events and establish that Maria’s last known location was the 900 block of Ethel Street — property managed and controlled by Guillermo De La Cruz Morales.
