The City of Douglas has received a Land and Water Grant from the Department of Natural Resources. The grant is in the amount of $100,000 and will be used for the renovation of tennis courts at Davis Wade Park and Wheeler Park. The City will provide matching funds in the amount of $100,000 included in SPLOST for recreation projects. “We are delighted to receive this grant to help with the renovation costs of the tennis courts located at Davis Wade and Wheeler Park,” says Dale Batten, Community Development Director. “The bid process will begin soon. Thanks to a grant by the United States Department of Agriculture, the Satilla Regional Library in Douglas now has a new wireless computer classroom. Veterans Day plans have been announced for the campuses of Wiregrass Georgia Technical College. The Wiregrass Student Veterans Associations (SVA) will be hosting these events on Tuesday, November 11, 2014 to honor student, staff, and faculty veterans as well as all veterans in our communities.
