Mr. Allen James Purvis, age 72, of Douglas passed away Wednesday morning, July 8, 2015, at the Coffee Regional Medical Center, following an extended illness. He was born September 18, 1942 to the late Alton Purvis and the late Catherine Vernell Moody Purvis. Mr. Purvis, a native of Coffee County, was a truck driver. He was preceded in death by a son, Allen James Purvis, Jr., and a Brother, Dayne Purvis. First Academy Headmaster Douglas Wasden reports the school has received its 2014-2015 data from the Iowa Test of Basic Skills (ITBS) assessment that the third and fourth grade students took at the end of April. Students scored at or above the national norm percentile in every subject area. Each subject area was at least 60% or higher for every content. The overall scores for each subject area are made up of six to eight different domains that are calculated to the overall percentage for each subject.
