The doors will open to the first screening of the feature film “Surrender” next Saturday, July 11, at 5 p.m. The faith-based film tells the story of a young police officer who must face tragedy at home and in the workplace. The story follows the officer through a religious journey as he progresses through his career. The film’s high speed chases and action combined with the faith-based message makes the film entertaining and suitable for families. Mrs. Nora Blackwell Darley, age 90, of Wray, passed away early Friday Morning, July 3, 2015, at the Life Care Facility in Orange Park, Florida, following an extended illness. She was born November 4, 1924 to the late Agnes Pearl and Joseph Terrell Blackwell of Douglas. The Satilla Regional Library System hosted the Bright Star Touring Theatre earlier this week, which performed their show, Happily Ever After, where fairy tales were brought to life. Bright Star Touring Theatre performed fairy tales and fractured fairy tales including Elvis and the Shoemaker, Rumpelstiltkin, Rapunzel, and Little Red Riding Hood. Wiregrass Georgia Tech students recently attended the 51th Annual SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Conference held in Louisville, KY on June 22 through 26. Industry leaders representing more than 600 businesses, corporations, trade associations and unions recognized the students for demonstrating excellence in 100 hands-on occupational and leadership competitions such as robotics, criminal justice, aviation maintenance and public speaking.
