Hoke Smith Rawlins, age 82 of Ambrose, passed away on Wednesday, June 25, 2014, at his residence following an extended illness. Mr. Rawlins was born on December 29, 1931, in Broxton, Georgia, to the late Jessie James Rawlins and Rhoda Carver Rawlins. The South Georgia Shockers, who are led by former professional baseball player Mitch Douglas, are headed to the Final Four in the State in AAA. The Shockers are a first-year travel baseball team that plays primarily in the USSSA Baseball League, which is considered the toughest in travel baseball. Mr. Jackie Morgan, age 73 of Douglas, passed away Monday, June 23, 2014, at his residence following an extended illness. Mr. Morgan was born November 20, 1940, to the late Jacob Ponder Morgan and the late Nellie Burch Morgan.
