Unity Park is getting a facelift. The City of Douglas has been awarded funding from the Georgia Department of Natural Resources through their Land and Water Conservation Fund. This funding is provided for the acquisition, development, and rehabilitation of outdoor recreation lands and facilities. The City of Douglas will receive $278,000.00 from this grant funding to use towards improvements for Unity Park. A multi-agency operation that busted an alleged chicken fighting ring in Jeff Davis County resulted in 12 arrests on a variety of charges. On the weekend of June 3, 2023 and the following days, several agencies executed three search warrants at two addresses in Jeff Davis County and one in Appling County.
