Last week, officers in Jeff Davis County posed as employees on a solar panel site to apprehend a fugitive who had been on the run for nearly four years. He allegedly skipped bond stemming from charges in Americus in 2019. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation Region 3 requested assistance in the location and arrest of Jacori Devontae Peters, who was arrested in 2019 and granted bond but later skipped town after not appearing in court. Michael Joe Stone II, 34, of Douglas, was convicted by a Coffee County jury on March 21 for raping and molesting his nearly 5 year old daughter in January 2021. Stone did not have custody of his child at the time but had recently moved in with his sister, who was his child’s guardian. The child sustained injuries as a result of Stone’s actions, and was examined by a sexual assault nurse examiner and interviewed by a specialized child forensic interviewer with Satilla Advocacy Services. The South Georgia State College Hawks could not overcome a strong shooting performance from Monroe College Monday morning, falling to the Mustangs 83-63 in the first round of the NJCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Tournament in Hutchinson, Kansas. Carlos Hart led the Hawks (26-8) with 17 points and seven rebounds. Keith Lamar was the only other SGSC player to score in double figures with 10 points and six rebounds. Reverend Warnock was born in Chamblee, Georgia on January 26, 1920, to the late Jane Marguerite Callaham Warnock and the late Charles Herman Warnock, Sr. Reverend Warnock is survived by a son, Charles H. Hester was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Melvin Buchanan. As the matriarch of the Carswell-Buchanan family, Hester shared a significant piece of herself with each and every family member.
