Parade officials are releasing the rules, regulations, and important information regarding the parade. The primary mission of the Annual Festival of Lights Parade is to provide a safe, enjoyable, and quality family environment, in and on the streets of Douglas. In order to do so, the following rules and regulations are asked to be followed. The Keep Douglas Beautiful Committee held its first Trash Dash Plogging Event on Saturday, November 18, 2023. Over 60 volunteers walked the Greenway Trail to help pick up litter and collect debris along the trail. A Richmond County man has been sentenced to 15 years in prison after pleading guilty to persuading a child to produce sexually explicit images. Tibius Edwards, 26, of Augusta, was sentenced to 180 months in prison after pleading guilty to Production of Child Pornography, said Jill E. Steinberg, U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Georgia. U.S. District Court Chief Judge J. Randal Hall also ordered Edwards to register as a sex offender and to serve 20 years of supervised release upon completion of his prison term. There is no parole in the federal system. …

Collaboration between South Georgia State College (SGSC), Wiregrass Technical College (WGTC), and Coastal Pines Technical College (CPTC) was strengthened recently with the signing of new articulation agreements that provide additional educational opportunities for students. A Burke County man has been sentenced to federal prison after investigators discovered a massive cache of images of sexually exploited children on devices in his possession. Jason Bonds Connelly, 61, of Waynesboro, Ga., was sentenced to 110 months in prison after pleading guilty to Possession of Child Pornography, said Jill E.
