The Keep Douglas Beautiful Committee is gearing up for a beautification project at Jackie Allen Park. On Saturday, October 22, 2022, from 9:30 am-noon, volunteers will be sprucing up the Jackie Allen Park, a neighborhood park located on Roper Street. “We are really excited about this beautification project as a Keep America Beautiful Affiliate,” says Dinitra Williams, KDB President. “This project is a part of our Yearly Work Plan for 2022. Mrs. Katherine “Kat” L. Crawford, age 85 of Pearson, Ga., passed away Monday, October 3, 2022, at her home following an extended illness. She was born in Kentucky on May 18, 1937. After graduating high school, Mrs. Crawford worked as a telephone operator for John’s Lincoln-Mercury, as well as a homemaker. The City of Douglas will hold three open house dates for the restored barracks at the Airport on Tuesday, October 4, 2022, from 1:00PM – 4:00PM, Thursday, October 13, from 9:00 AM-1:00 PM, and Friday, October 21, 2022 from 1:00PM – 4:00PM. A Coffee County man has been sentenced to 15 years in federal prison after his conviction on child pornography charges. Ashley Marshall Carter, 43, of Douglas, Ga., was sentenced to 180 months in prison after a U.S. District Court jury found him guilty in June 2022 of one count of Distribution of Child Pornography, and one count of Possession of Child Pornography, said David H.
