A South Georgia pharmacy and its pharmacist are accused in a newly filed federal civil complaint with dispensing thousands of highly addictive controlled substances in violation of the Controlled Substances Act. Chip’s Discount Drugs Inc., Chips Discount Drugs LLC, and pharmacist Rogers Wood, of Hazlehurst, Ga., are accused in the suit, filed in U.S. District Court by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Georgia, of failing to recognize “red flags” of improper and illegitimate prescriptions, said Bobby L. As a result of a proactive online undercover investigation coordinated by the Georgia Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s Child Exploitation and Computer Crimes Unit (CEACC), the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office, and the Southern Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office, fourteen people were arrested over a four-day period beginning Thursday, February 6, 2020. This past week was one filled with multiple accomplishments for men’s basketball at South Georgia State College. The Hawks (22-3, 9-2) won their sixth consecutive conference game, moved into sole possession of second place in the GCAA standings, and received their fourth Player of the Week honor this season. SGSC avenged one of its two conference losses Saturday afternoon by defeating the Central Georgia Tech Titans 67-55. American Legion Post 515 recently honored the families of two deceased Post members – Thomas Edwards and David Lindsey. Thomas Edwards passed away in June 2019 but the Legion received notification of his death when the annual membership renewal notice was returned. Shortly after Mr. Edwards’s death, his spouse, Stella Edwards, had stroke that limited her ability to travel. Therefore, members of Post 515 visited the family Wednesday, February 5. During the visit, Commander Walker, Service Officer Jerome Loving, and Executive Committee Member Larry McElhaney presented the family a flag case to display the American flag and American Legion resolutions.…
