Mrs. Judy Ann Wells Lopez, age 64, of Douglas, passed away Friday evening, November 8, 2019 at St. Josephs/Candler Health System in Savannah following an extended illness. Mrs. Lopez was born November 19, 1954 to the late John Wells and the late Marjorie Garling Wells. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Roger Wells and Mark Wells. Mrs. Lopez, native of Rochester, NY, had been employed with Tecumseh Engine Company in general labor. Coffee High students to participate in skills challenge The Associated General Contractors of Georgia (AGC Georgia) has joined forces with JCI Contractors and Tulsa Welding School to host construction students from 22-area high schools for the South & Southwest Workforce Development Alliance Skills Challenge. The Coffee County Sheriff’s Office needs the public’s assistance in locating Johnny Ryan Floyd. Floyd currently has active warrants for battery and fleeing and attempting to elude officers. Floyd allegedly committed a battery on a family member on October 8, 2019 in Coffee County. Floyd fled the location at the time and officers were unable to locate him. On October 28, 2019 Officers were in the area of Highway 221 North and Cross Road when they observed a white Ford F-150 and recognized Floyd as the driver. Coffee County deputies and investigators have been very busy over the last few months, making numerous arrests and recovering a great deal of stolen property. Officers have also worked several crimes against persons. On September 10, 2019, deputies from the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office responded to Douglas Electric on the Willacoochee Hwy in reference to a burglary. The South Georgia State College Hawks rolled to their second win of the season Wednesday night, defeating the Preeminence Academy Cobras 101-44 on SGSC’s Douglas Campus. Bryce Brown and Daniel Parrish led the Hawks (2-0) with 15 points, and Will Ferguson finished with 13 points.
