Mr. Bobby Darrell Dupree, age 50, of Douglas, passed away Thursday afternoon, April 25, 2019 in Nashville following a short illness. Mr. Dupree was born February 18, 1969 to the late William Terry Dupree and the late Ernestine Spivey Dupree. Other than his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters: Nancy Dupree and Louise Dupree.Mr. Dupree, a native of Orlando, was formerly a truck driver with Peacock Oil of Baxley. Charles H. “Scooter Bill” Deen, age 71, of Broxton, passed away on Wednesday April 25, 2019. Mr. Deen was born on October 28, 1947 in Ben Hill County, the son of the late Carl Houston Deen, and the late Evelyn Smith Kight. Wiregrass Tech’s GOAL student named top state finalist Wiregrass’ 2019 GOAL winner Nikki Hinson, a Radiology Technology student, was recently named one of the top nine finalists in the Georgia Occupational Award of Leadership (GOAL) in Atlanta. The announcement was made at the Technical College System of Georgia’s GOAL and Rick Perkins Award Conference held in Atlanta April 15-18. Retired teachers make donation to Satilla Regional Library The Coffee Atkinson Retired Educators Association (CAREA) presented Satilla Regional Library Interim Director, Stephen Whigman, a monetary donation in memory of their deceased members for 2017-2019. That means it will be time for 4-H summer camp. A house fire last night in West Green claimed the life of Betty Clark, 69. According to a press release issued by the Safety Fire Commissioner’s Office, around 10:30 p.m. Sunday night, firefighters from the Coffee County Fire Department responded to a residential fire located at 150 Burkett Loop Road in West Green. Three adult individuals were able to escape the residence, but Clark, of West Green, was found deceased in the home after the fire was extinguished. “The origin of this fire is to believed to be in the bedroom of where the deceased was discovered. A fire investigator with the Safety Fire Commissioner’s Office has determined that a house fire in Coffee County was intentionally set. The fire occurred around 11:30 p.m. on April 16, 2019. “The residence is located in a mobile home park off of Chaney Road in Coffee County. The home has been vacant since September of 2018.
