Around 9:30 a.m. on July 9, 2024, officers responded to a shots fired call at Georgian Woods Apartments. When they arrived, however, they found out it was a false alarm. According to a report from the Douglas Police Department, officers arrived on the scene and didn’t notice anything out of the way. A maintenance crew told police that they were remodeling an apartment. Just before they got there, an individual identified as Markease Robinson, 32, ran out of the apartment yelling that someone was shooting at him. Kairos Prison Ministry, an international organization that brings hope and healing to incarcerated individuals, is actively recruiting volunteers to serve at Coffee Correctional Facility in Nicholls. Kairos is a lay-led, interdenominational Christian ministry focused on bringing Christ’s love and forgiveness to people behind bars and their families.
