Mr. Chris Tuten, SGSC Foundation President, kicked off the event with a message of thanks to the Foundation’s scholarship donors. “We are grateful to our many donors. They competed in several competitions, including Floral Design. Abbigail “Abbi” Vaughn competed in the Junior Area Floral Design competition, where she placed first against 30 other competitors. Abbi Vaughn has competed in Junior Floral Design for three years. Each year, she has placed in the top three. However, this is her first year placing first. The South Georgia State College (SGSC) swim teams kicked off their season in fine fashion this past Saturday at Thomas University. Both the men’s and women’s teams won the three-school meet against Point University and Thomas University who hosted the meet. SGSC’s men scored 604 points to Thomas University’s 500 points while the women dominated the meet tallying 593 points to second place Point University’s 264 points. Students at Wiregrass Georgia Technical College are reaping the benefits of technology upgrades and new computer equipment, with plans on the horizon for more upgrades in the near future. Last year, the college was able to invest $400,000 in new computers for programs like, Computer Information System, Business Technology, Criminal Justice and Early Childhood Education and Care. Over the past months, almost all of the teaching facilities for the Adult Education program purchased and replaced computers, smartboards and printers.
