South Georgia State College’s (SGSC) men’s basketball team will open its regular season Thursday, Nov. 2 at 7 p.m. against Skill Factory Academy. The game will be played in the Douglas Campus gymnasium, which is located inside SGSC’s Wellness Center. The Waycross Campus home opener will be Saturday, Nov. 11 against USC-Salkehatchie. South Georgia State College’s (SGSC) men’s basketball team closed out its preseason schedule Thursday night with another successful scrimmage against Action Sports Academy. Nate Louis led the Hawks with 18 points, five rebounds and four assists. Tracy Hector had 12 points, six rebounds and five assists, while Marquise Jackson and Keyshaun Street each finished with 10 points. “This was another good experience for us, because everybody got to play tonight,” said head coach Cory Baldwin. Wednesday afternoon, October 25, the Alma Police Department received a report of a stolen semi-truck from a location on Radio Station Rd. Wednesday evening, a law enforcement agency in Atkinson County stopped the semi-truck. APD has arrested George Randall Harrelson, 50 of Alma, with theft by taking a motor vehicle and Landon Aaron Dixon, 41 of Waycross, with theft by receiving stolen property.
