Friday evening, September 29, the Alma Police Department arrested Lynn Harris Adams, 45 of Alma, for criminal trespass, simple battery, and cruelty to children in the first degree. Adams’ arrest followed a 911 call to a home on Townsend Lane. Adams reportedly attempted to remove a medical device from a child at the location, and refused to leave after repeated requests by the residents. During the early morning hours of Saturday, September 30, APD stopped a vehicle on N. Dixson St. for inoperable taillights. City Marshal Rodger Goddard attended the Chief Executive Training Class for newly appointed chiefs of police and heads of law enforcement agencies at the Dr. Curtis E. McClung Training Center in Duluth, GA from September 18-27, 2017. Last Wednesday morning, September 20, between 1 and 2 a.m., the Jeff Davis County Sheriff’s Office became involved in a vehicle pursuit following an armed robbery at a convenience store in Hazlehurst, GA. After the chase entered Bacon County, Bacon County Sheriff’s Office deputies requested assistance from the Alma Police Department in bringing the pursuit to an end. On Saturday, September 23rd, 2017, over 80 volunteers from 10 different counties came out to pick up trash along the Satilla River. Each year the Satilla Riverkeeper hosts this watershed-wide event to target the chronic trash problem at popular river access points.
