Mr. Benny Joe Peterson, age 81, of Douglas, GA passed away Wednesday afternoon, September 20, 2017 at Coffee Regional Medical Center following an extended illness. Mr. Peterson was born in Coffee County on April 15, 1936 to the late Rexford Peterson and the late Bernice Baker Peterson Wall Anderson. He had been self-employed for many years in the transportation of and setup of mobile homes. He was a United States Navy Veteran. Mr. Peterson was a member of West Ward Church of God. Barry Bloom, Coffee Regional Medical Center, was the speaker at the Douglas Kiwanis Club meeting of Tuesday, September 19 at the Flyin’ Cowboy restaurant. He gave a presentation concerning the health of Coffee County citizens as compared to rest of Georgia and the successes and initiatives of Coffee Regional Medical Center. The Lady Trojans softball team would like to “Gold Out” the stadium for Thursday’s game against Northside Warner Robins as a part of their “Knock Cancer Out of the Park” observation of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. The girls will wear gold tops and gold socks and will honor children in Coffee County who are battling or have battled cancer. Many students at Eastside Elementary will be blessed by the Boss Riders generous school supply donation. This group donated much needed school supplies which will directly benefit our students. We would like to thank the Boss Riders for their large donation of items such as notebooks, paper, pencils, and glue sticks. Mr. David Wayne Horton, age 70, of Douglas, GA passed away early Monday morning, September 18, 2017, at Pruitt Health in Ocilla, GA following an extended illness.
