Two people were jailed by Coffee County deputies on forgery charges Tuesday after passing counterfeit $100 bills at a local convenience store. Deputies responded to Jet Foods, 9231 Ga. Hwy. 32 W., just prior to 2 p.m., June 27, in reference to counterfeit money. The complainant stated that two individuals, identified as 22-year-old William Scarborough and 36-year-old Tomie Karol Inman, both of Douglas, had passed the bills while making purchases the previous Friday. A 30-year-old Statesboro man faces methamphetamine charges after Coffee County drug agents discovered he was concealing the drug inside a drink cup during a traffic stop earlier this week. Just after 2 p.m., June 25, a Coffee County K-9 deputy conducted a traffic stop on a gold Buick Century on U.S. Hwy. 221 N. after observing the passenger, identified as Warren Preston-Chandler Anderson, not wearing a seat belt. Due to changes in state laws and regulation, the City Marshal’s Office will be established as its own agency/department. A woman booked into the Coffee County Jail early Saturday morning is facing drug trafficking charges after Coffee County jail officers discovered she was concealing ¼ lb. of cocaine and 25 ecstasy tablets in her wig. Delenea Camille Jones was arrested around 4 a.m. Saturday on drug possession and distribution charges by a law enforcement agency in an adjoining county and transported to the Coffee County Jail for housing.
