Chris Papierz has been teaching history at various schools for around ten years and has a military past as a Marine. However, he is now engaging himself in some of the governmental processes that he has taught in his classes. Currently a world history teacher at the George Washington Freshman Campus (GWCFC) and a past middle school teacher, he is very aware of the textbook demands of political action. Mr. Joshua Wesley Davis, age 37, of Chattanooga, TN passed away Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga, TN following an extended illness. Josh was born January 18, 1980 to Sammy and Diane Davis of Chattanooga, TN. He was a 1999 graduate of Bradley Central High School. Governor Nathan Deal recently swore in Lidell Greenway to the Georgia Driver’s Education Commission Board. Greenway is the Vice President of Economic Development for Wiregrass Georgia Technical College. The mission of the Driver’s Education Commission is to maximize participation in driver’s education and training to reduce motor vehicle accidents by making driver’s training accessible and affordable to all Georgians. She will work closely with the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety led by Director Harris Blackwood. City of Douglas Public Information Director Georgia Henderson and Douglas Media Relations/Event Coordinator Blondale Thomas attended the Georgia Department of Economic Development’s Tourism, Hospitality and Arts Day at the Georgia State Capital this week to represent the City of Douglas and the Magnolia Midlands Travel Association (MMTA). Douglas Commissioner Kentaiwon Durham received the prestigious Certificate of Recognition from the Harold F. Holtz Municipal Training Institute at the Georgia Municipal Association’s (GMA) Mayors’ Day Conference in Atlanta on Jan 22. The Harold F. Holtz Municipal Training Institute, a cooperative effort of GMA and the University of Georgia’s Carl Vinson Institute of Government, provides a nationally recognized series of training opportunities for elected city officials. Greg Tucker, AirMedCare, was the speaker at the Douglas Kiwanis Club meeting Tuesday, Jan. 24, at the Flyin’ Cowboy restaurant. Mr. Tucker spoke about the Air Evac Lifeteam system which consist of ambulance helicopters throughout the state staffed with medical personnel ready to evacuate injured persons to appropriate medical facilities at a moments notice.
