Ruby Mullinax, age 94, of Broxton, GA passed away on Wednesday, March 29, 2017, at her residence following an extended illness. Mrs. Mullinax was born on December 31, 1922, in Broxton, GA to the late Pat Smith and Addie Wise Smith. Silas Childers, Journalism Student at GWCFC George Washington Carver Freshman Campus (GWCFC) Journalism class recently went on a field trip where they visited South Georgia State College (SGSC). The students were driven there on a bus and then they walked back to their school, which was not hard considering the school is less than a mile away. Coffee County sheriff’s officials arrested an 18-year-old student Friday morning after it was discovered he’d posted a life-threatening comment towards a school faculty member on social media. Juan Solomon Brockington was taken into custody after referring to the faculty member in an expletive-filled post to the social media site “Snapchat,” stating “I will kill you.” Brockington admitted to making the threat and was subsequently transported to the Coffee County Jail. He faces one charge of terroristic threats via computer or computer network.
