As the traditional Halloween day quickly approaches on Monday, October 31, the City of Douglas Police Department urges parents and neighborhoods to use cautions for personal safety and especially for kids by offering these safety tips. The City asks that Trick-Or- Treating take place between the hours of 6 to 9 p.m. The Douglas Police Department asks that parents do not allow their kids to be out past 9 p.m. so that residents in participating neighborhoods will not be disturbed past nine o’clock. Hunter Shelton, a student in Mrs. Dana Miller’s and Mrs. Janet Capps’ class at Indian Creek Elementary, brought his pet snake to share with the kindergarten classes during “S” week. His name is “Sneaky Snake,” and he is a python. We learned many interesting facts about snakes. Thank you, Hunter, for sharing your pet with us. Instructors at Wiregrass Georgia Technical College have nominated 19 of their students for the Georgia Occupational Award of Leadership (GOAL) competition, according to Lydia Hubert, coordinator for the college’s GOAL program.
