The Rehearsal, a one-act play by Don Zolidis, opens this Friday in the Coffee High School Cafetorium. As CHS’s entry into the Region 1-6A’s One-Act Competition later this month, the students are offering a chance for the local fans of theatre to enjoy this comedy before everyone else. The Rehearsal is about a group of high school theatre students who are overcome with anxiety at the thought of putting on a major Broadway musical, Guys and Dolls, without the luxury of having an abundance of guys. Johnny Appleseed (aka. Mr. Brent Futch) made a surprise visit to Westside Elementary Pre-K students in September! “Johnny” read about his life and how he shared with everyone he met. To model sharing, “Johnny” shared an apple with each of the students. To follow up on science lessons learned in the classroom, students participated in a spectacular science experiment: erupting apples! Students created “apples” using baking soda, dish detergent, food coloring, and water. Then, they misted vinegar onto the “apples” making them erupt. Mrs. Linda Gail Courson Murray, age 66, of Douglas, GA passed away Monday morning, September 26, 2016 at Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah following an extended illness. Hungry Howie’s continues in its unwavering commitment to National Breast Cancer Awareness Month with its eighth annual “Love, Hope & Pizza” campaign.
