A member of South Georgia State College’s (SGSC) men’s basketball team has been named a 2016 Arthur Ashe, Jr. Sports Scholar by the magazine Diverse: Issues In Higher Education. South Georgia State College (SGSC) will honor retiring President Dr. Virginia Carson at two separate celebrations during the month of June. Carson will retire from SGSC June 30 after leading the institution for eight years. The first celebration is scheduled for Tuesday, June 7 from 5-7 p.m. in the Administrative Building on the Waycross Campus. The second celebration will take place Thursday, June 9 beginning at 5 p.m. in Engram Hall on the Douglas Campus. The public is invited to attend one or both of the events. – Submitted
