Weather permitting, Georgia Department of Transportation contractor Ozark Striping Co. will be refreshing the striping and/or replacing raised pavement markers (RPMs) in Berrien, Coffee and Terrell counties beginning Monday. Refreshed striping and new RPMs are brighter and easier to see, especially at night and in inclement weather, which can help motorists stay on the roadway and in the proper lane. In addition, the contractor is using a high-build wet weather paint, which provides better reflectivity when there is water on the road. This is a slow-moving operation that requires rolling lane closures. Motorists are asked to use caution and reduce…

After arriving and moving in to our dormitories for the week, the fun and games began. It was pick-a-rec time, and 4-H’ers got…
During these periods of hot and dry weather, certain modifications to your lawn maintenance practices will help to carry your turfgrass through periods of inadequate rainfall and reduce losses. The height of the warm-season turfgrass growing season spans May through August. Given average conditions (regular rainfall and moderate temperatures), bermudagrass, zoysiagrass, St. Augustinegrass, centipedegrass, and other warm-season species respond quickly to cultural and maintenance practices such as mowing, fertilizing, aerating, topdressing, and weed management. However, the summer of 2016 has delivered hot and dry weather with less than normal rainfall. During early August, now is the time to fine tune…
