Wednesday afternoon was quite a day for the sophomore players on South Georgia State College’s (SGSC) softball team. The Lady Hawks (29-6, 11-1) celebrated Sophomore Day, swept ABAC in a doubleheader (8-0 and 4-2), and clinched the Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association (GCAA) regular season championship. The Lady Hawks jumped out to an early lead in the opening game of the doubleheader. With eight runs in the first three innings, the Lady Hawks left no doubt they were out to win the game. Medal of Honor recipient and author General James Livingston recently visited George Washington Carver Freshman Campus (GWC). Army veteran and history teacher Chanc Logue taught a Medal of Honor advisement class where students explored the important concepts of courage, commitment, sacrifice, patriotism, integrity, and citizenship and how these values can be exemplified in daily life.The Medal of Honor advisement class incorporated video clips about personal accounts of living Medal of Honor recipients. The South Georgia State College baseball team (27-17, 12-5) beat Gordon State in Barnesville, Ga., Tuesday by a score of 6-3. Connor Durden led the Hawks by going 2-for-5 on the day. He doubled in the third inning to post the first two runs of the game. Two more runs came across the plate in the fourth inning for the Hawks.
