Joy McClelland, age 79, of Broxton, GA passed away on Wednesday, December 9, 2015, at her residence following an extended illness. Mrs. McClelland was born on April 23, 1936 in Douglas, GA to the late Eva Bryant. The Douglas-Coffee County Parks and Recreation Department will host the nationally recognized Doyle Academy on March 19, 2016. Americas #1 Camp will instruct baseball and softball players between the ages of six and 15 in hitting, throwing and fielding during the one-day school. The school will be held from noont to 5 p.m. at the Greg Walker Sports Complex located at the Coffee Middle School. Satilla Regional Library recently held their Children’s Christmas Party on Saturday, December 5, at the Douglas/Coffee County Public Library. There were various Christmas crafts including fuzzy stick Christmas trees, small beaded green wreaths, snowflakes, and more. The games were Christmas tree ring toss, pin the nose on the snowman, snowman slam, and bingo/card games. There was a raffle for two prize bags for children including a Christmas movie, snowman stuffed animal, and pencil set. Those in attendance enjoyed cupcakes and cider for refreshments.
