Donnie Lemuel Little, age 67, of Douglas, GA passed away on Saturday, October 3, 2015, at Coffee Regional Medical Center following an extended illness. Mr. Little was born on April 27, 1948, in Douglas, GA to the late Thomas Lemuel Little and Mary Lois Clement Little. Having a meaningful and worthwhile philanthropy is a paramount issue for any Greek organization, and Beta Sigma Phi, Kappa Beta Chapter, proudly announces a donation of $6,472 presented to the Childhood Cancer Group of Coffee County (CCAGCC). The generous donation was a result of contributions from benefactors who purchased gold mums in honor of childhood cancer awareness month and the fifth annual childhood cancer awareness auction and fundraiser. Longtime Douglas – Coffee Co. Chamber of Commerce President and Economic Development Authority Executive Director Joanne Lewis abruptly tendered her letter of resignation Monday during a meeting of the Chamber executive board and EDA members. After regular business was discussed, Lewis surprised the group by announcing her retirement. South Georgia State College freshman Shanelle Frederick was selected as the National Junior College Athletic Association’s Women’s Soccer Player of the Week for Sept. 21-27. A West Bay, Cayman Islands native, Frederick helped lead the Lady Hawks to a win over Gordon State and to a close match against rival Darton State. Frederick scored a total of six goals and had two assists during the two games. Ms. Betty Carolyn Claxton Johnson, age 78, of Douglas passed away Saturday morning, October 3, 2015 at her residence, following a brief illness. She was born January 24, 1937 to the late William Terrell Solomon and the late Mary Corene Buchan Solomon.
