Debbie Lynn Gurr “Tub”, age 71, passed away peacefully Friday morning, January 30, 2026, at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Debbie was born in Ocilla, Georgia on October 21, 1954, to the late William Anderson Owens and the late Lillie Lugene Owens. She was self-employed and spent many years in the mobile home industry. She enjoyed fishing, woodworking, hummingbirds, and most of all spending time with her family. Along with her parents, Debbie was preceded in death by her sisters, Mary Owens and Betty Poole; her twin brother, Morris Owens; and her special sister-in-law, Trish Owens.
Debbie is survived by her loving husband of 43 years, Ernest Lawrence “Larry” Gurr of Douglas, Georgia; her daughter, Kayla Hope Ward and husband Brian of Douglas, Georgia; her stepdaughter, Lisa Daw and husband Kevin; and her grandchildren, Dawson Ward, Jayden Ward, Brimm Ward, Zachary Daw and Brayden Daw. She is also survived by her siblings Mildred Estes, Herman Owens, Faye Busbin and Bill, Troy Owens, Nina Whitley and Carole, Camilla “Bug” Owens, and Albert Owens, along with several nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Debbie’s family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, from 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM in the Ricketson Funeral Home Chapel. A memorial service will be held in her honor at 6:00 PM in the Ricketson Funeral Home Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Coffee Regional Medical Center Cancer and Infusion Center in Debbie’s memory.
