A South Georgia State College police officer was arrested on family violence charges during a domestic dispute late last month, according to an incident report from the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office.
WALB broke the story on Friday morning. The report states that on February 28, 2026, at around 11 p.m., officers responded to a Sinkhole Road address in reference to a domestic dispute. When officers arrived, they spoke with Christopher Ryan Troupe, 34, who said that his wife, who lives in Dublin, had come to see him. They began arguing, the report says, and Troupe went to get his cell phone from his room. His stepson and wife were standing between him and his room and, the report says, Troupe stated that he pushed them out of the way. However, later in the interview, the report says that Troupe retracted his statement, saying that he did not push them but only moved them out of the way.
Troupe’s stepson stated that the argument was upsetting another child in the home. He added that Troupe pushed him and his mom out of the way when Troupe went to get his cell phone.
Troupe’s wife stated that Troupe had been drinking and disciplined one of the children by striking the child on the behind several times, according to the report. She added that she didn’t agree with the punishment and the two started arguing. The report says that she stated that Troupe threatened to kill her and the children and also placed his hands on her shoulder.
Troupe was arrested and charged with simple battery under the Family Violence Act. He was transported to the Coffee County Jail and later released on a $1,000 property bond.
South Georgia State College released the following statement to WALB regarding the incident: “South Georgia State College is aware of the recent arrest of a college employee.
