A 34-year-old Douglas resident remains in jail after he was hit with a slew of charges as a result of a traffic stop that took place at around 2:20 a.m. on March 21, 2026.
According to a report from the Douglas police department, an officer conducted a traffic stop on a Ram pickup on East Walker Street for traveling 54 mph in a 35 mph zone.
The driver, identified as Adan Granados-Camacho, 34, was on the phone with someone when the officer approached the truck. Other units arrived soon after. According to the incident report, Granados-Camacho did not have a driver’s license but did have a Mexican ID card and passport. He also admitted to drinking, the report says.
During questioning on the side of the road, Granados-Camacho refused a field sobriety test but did consent to a blood test. He also stated that his six-year-old child was at home alone. The officers at the scene contacted a deputy to check on the child.
Officers also searched the pickup and found suspected cocaine and a Taurus handgun.
As a result, Granados-Camacho was arrested and charged with possession of cocaine, DUI, open container, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, and abandonment of a child. He was transported to the Coffee County Jail and given bond on all charges. However, he remains incarcerated.
