Several local elections will take place in 2026. Here are the election dates and qualifying fees for this year’s election cycle.
Special elections will take place on March 17 with any runoff taking place on April 14 (there are no local special elections scheduled this year); general primary/non-partisan election will be held on May 19 with a runoff, if necessary, taking place on June 16. The general election will take place on November 3 with the runoff, if necessary, being held on December 1.
The local elections on the ballot are:
- County Commissioner District 1 (partisan, George McIver, incumbent)
- County Commissioner District 3 (partisan, AJ Dovers, incumbent)
- Board of Education District 1 (non-partisan, Leola Johnson, incumbent)
- Board of Education District 2 (non-partisan, Jesse Jowers, incumbent)
- Board of Education District 4 (non-partisan, Bryan Preston, incumbent)
- Solicitor (Jared Roberts, partisan, incumbent)
The qualifying fees for the elections are as follows:
- County Commissioner — $127.17
- Board of Education — $303.19
- Solicitor — $2,058.82
The qualifying period begins Monday, March 2, at 9 a.m. and runs through Friday, March 6, at noon. Qualifying takes place at the Coffee County Elections Office at 224 West Ashley Street, Suite A. The office can be reached at (912) 384-7018.
